The Holy Girlz Sisterhood of the “Amped Eastside Youth Church” has a special opportunity for you and/ or your company to support a worthwhile organization and increase your visibility in our community. We are hosting our annual Holy Girlz Sisterhood Fashion Show event on February 21, 2009. We will have three scenes: casual, business formal, and back to school scene. We will also have two skits, and a dance selection.
The Amped Eastside Youth Church uses the money or donations to help young urban students, with tutoring, cultural awareness events, camp, and etiquette courses.

Prayer Works

I’ve been planning the Holy Girlz Sisterhood Fashion Show for Secret Place Community Church and I started praying for more volunteers to help with the fashion show. God answered my prayers. I had a friend of mine from college contact to me to tell me she would help. Later, on that day I checked my facebook and I now have three more volunteers. I am so thankful God has answered my prayers, and I know the fashion show will be great. The fashion show is February 21, 2009 at 7:00pm, now I know the fashion show turn out will be GREAT. Thank You God AMEN!.

Good day Today

Today was so wonderful! I went to Douglass High School and helped the Excell Program with their college fair. I had lots of fun. I hope the students do what they need to do now and apply for schools and grants.

I also went to Harding today and taught a "Street Smarts Class" that was fun as well.
I gave my students an execrise about self perception. They had to name their positive and negative traits/qualities to the class. The discussion was deep, that we went over our time, ooops! I am happy that my students are growing to be good leaders. One of my male students told me and another leader that our class really benefited him. He wants to take more of a leadership role now. That is always a Blessing.

Hey, Here are a couple of pics of me and students hanging out during the Holiday's (snow tubing). Youth Ministry is a blessing to me! I've been with Youth for Christ for two years now. Just to see the transformation of my students is always amazing. For example, my second job is teaching anger management courses at OKC Public Schools. I had a student of mine who had a lot of anger, and circumstances they were dealing with, change quickly. When I say quickly, it just amazed me. That student is now one of my core leaders in my church youth program. They are inviting friends, and helping other students at St. John Youth Church. Thank the LORD! I am truly thankful for his faithful leaders.

Today, I picked up a few students for church. We were split into different teams as we worked on the fruit of spirits. I was so proud of my team, their skit was Awesome. They explained the everyday drama they go through at school and how they have to learn to be peaceful. For Example, one of my students "showed the drama of girls fighting over boys." however, at the end of the skit they girls became friends. I really enjoyed watching my students grow spiritaully and applying what they learn at church to their lives. You guys have a blessed day and REMEMBER TO KEEP THE PEACE. Allow God's will to be done in your life, today. AMEN.

Winter makes me SICK

Seriously people, I have been down for the last three weeks. With this off and on, cold. It has me drained but I am fighter and I don't give up easily. I am not the type of person to sit in the house. I have a problem with being at home, so that means, I don't like being sick. However, I decided I need to be smart and just relax, today. Finish all of my school work than relax. I thank everyone who has spoiled me these last few weeks, and I am sorry, If you caught my sickness, yeah I Know, its spreading. So, stay away from me, if you dislike being sickly. Okay...I am going to bed now. LOVE YA! I am acting like a crybaby.

Camp Ministry Needs

Hello Everyone, For everyone who knows, I Arlesha Blandon am a campus minister at Taft Middle School. We have a ministry there every Wednesday called "Impact". Summer Camp is near for my students at Taft middle school. However, they need supplies for the camp like:
a bible
sleeping bags
pillows
toothbrushes
deodorant
soap
shampoo
towels
flip flops-sandals
journal or notebook
pencils and ink pens
small bags or backpacks
I am taking 10 students to camp with me, if you can be a blessing and help,let me know. Youth for Christ 2008 Banquet

Youth for Christ 2008 Banquet, was such a Blessing.

It featured Wes Welker, Cam, Exodus any more special guest.

The banquet gave our sponsors vital information about our internship program. YFC interns are assigned to a campus to serve and lead the campus clubs each week. Our interns spend more than two hours a week in training as they continue to learn how to be most effective. In many cases the intern becomes the youth pastor of assigned local church were they have interned at.

We have seen thousands of students attend the club and literally hundreds have been change forever. Students our given up (turning away from) alcohol, drugs, pre-martial sex, gangs and other destructive behaviors.

What is the Impact Club?

The best part of Youth for Christ is the “impact club” and opportunity to meet teenagers who are happy about the Impact club at their schools. Youth Ministers from "Youth for Christ," talk to the teenagers about God during their lunch hours and they also provided pizza.

Yes, it is effective!
They go home and share the Gospel with their family and friends. You do not just minister to them you are also training up student leaders (disciples) who are ministering to their families and friends. I had a teenage girl tell me, “She never knew her family crazy home environment could improve, all she knew was yelling and shouting before (its frustrating).” She is now teaching her family how to pray together, work through problems, and arguments. And that’s what ministering to youth is all about, reaching the lost and allowing God to be the counselor, protector, deliverer, and peacemaker.

Youth for Christ Banquet

We had a wonderful banquet, like every year. This year we had over 800 guest in attendance, the Youth for Christ 2008 banquet at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. What I enjoyed most about the banquet: I enjoyed the teenagers talking about how various youth ministers, youth leaders, and afterschool programs changed their lives for the best. We had one teenager, "Tell us she now has role models to look up too." We had another teenager say, "She doesn't wont to be in the gang anymore." Everything about the banquet was a blessing.

The band from Northeast came and perform. Their were students there from, John Marshall High School, Douglass, Taft, NorthWest Classen and many more schools.

I happy to see these positive things happening in Oklahoma City, Amen!

Gangs and Your Neighborhood

I work for the Boys & Girls club, and I work with the Gang Members at Taft Middle School. We have a program called "Street Smarts" every Thursday and Friday at Taft we talk to kids about having positive role models in their lives. We have them recognize, and identify false advertisements in their lives. We also have an conflict resolution course.

Most of the kids in my program are just looking for LOVE for someone to love them, listen to them, and care about them. Most of the kids act out best they believe no one, loves, or understand them. We would like the kids in our program to visualize what real love and community is. A love where people are there to help you but, not put you down in any kind of way. People who always inspiring you to be the best, no matter what.

Arlesha Blandon, has been serving with Youth for Christ for the past year. She became a youth intern with Youth for Christ in Spring 2007. Arlesha holds a Bachelor's Degree in Corporate Communication and seeking a Master of Arts degree from Oklahoma Christian. Arlesha enjoys mentoring teenagers with media techniques and campus ministry. She does her impact club at NW Classen, Taft and Douglass High School during lunch and sometimes breakfast with Youth for Christ.

She is excited about working with Salt_Works Ministry afterschool programs on Tuesday's with Stan Stafford. They meet every Tuesday at Mayfair Baptist church from 4pm-7pm, located on 50th & May. My Vision

My vision is to open an afterschool program on the Eastside of Oklahoma City. My afterschool program will include: Bible Study, Tutoring, Drama (life application skits), and Life Skill Classes (resume building, interview techniques, and learning computers skills.) However, this will not be effective until I find a venue or building, and adult leaders who would like to volunteer. Pray that God blesses me with the resources I need to make my vision come true. I know all things are possible through God, AMEN!!! I will continue seek his face, Praise the Lord!!!

Suicide and depression

I would like to pray for everyone that is depressed right now around the Valentine's Holiday. Suicide is not the answer for dealing with pain, we can cope in another way. Jesus is the answer, he created us in his image so we can touch other people's lives. I had a friend of mine who called me one day and she said, "didn't want to live anymore"...I panic: I called her Grandmother, police, everyone I knew because I cared so much about her. God cares that much about us..."That is why we should have life and have to the fullest." John 10:10 God wants us to have a good life. Talk to him when we are depressed, and sad. However, we must put him first. A lot of my teenage girls...don't understand life and they think suicide is the only way out. They feel that their sins can't be forgiven. They feel no one can love them. But, God loves them...and he shows his love everyday. I am happy to be a child of God so I can minister to these lost girls...whatever God wants from me...let his will be done now, AMEN.

Bitter Friend

We have to admit there are times in our lives, we become bitter. We enjoy spending times with our buddies, it could be a guy or girl because people come into our lives for a short moment. Your friends, see your goodness, your heart, they make you smile. Disregarding everyone's crazy schedule, they make time for one another because it matters. Sometimes having that positive energy around you can be a lifesaver. Which we never knew, that little moment together is someone escape. Escape from their true hidden pain or secret, and for that brief time together, their pain disappears, and they are free. Thank God for real friendships, people who take time to care. Do Not be a bitter friend when a friend doesn't make time, you make the time for that friend. Much Love!

Through the Storm

Today started off kind of shakey at Taft because of the rain. We had the impact club meet in the gym during 2nd and 3rd lunch because of the rain or mist. That's Oklahoma weather for you. However, the students seemed happy to learn about good fruit and bad fruit today. Miss Laurey Pike gave the students a quiz just to see if they were paying attention, believe it or not they answered all the questions correctly. I thank God for Wednesday's at Taft Middle School in all the wonderful volunteer's.
